
Davido “Timeless” Full Album Review – “A Complete Masterpiece”

Today we are going to be reviewing the Record breaking project that just arrived from no other but the amazing David “Davido” Adeleke. So Let’s go!
When Davido Tweeted “See y’all in March” in late December we all weren’t taking his message as a warning since he was going to take us by storm and surprise. Remember the 3-month break that Davido took away from social media? Well, He did more than grieving:
Following the demise of his son Ifeanyi Adeleke, and his World conquering feat of performing on football’s biggest stage, Nigerian American singer, David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, returned in a record breaking style with the release of his fourth studio album, tagged ‘Timeless’.
Timeless as it names signifies, was last of the Time Trident of Davido’s project Namely “A Good Time”, “A Better Time”, and now “Timeless”.
Featuring Guest appearances from Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo, Davido takes us on a trip to Soweto with Musa Keys with a Collaboration on “Unavailable”, introducing his newly signed talent Morravvy on beautiful track “In The Garden” And of course the Art maker Logos Olori on “Picasso”. Davido also tapped in specialty for Jamaica’s Dexta Daps and the musical bromance of Davido and Focalistic seems not to be coming to a halt anytime soon with the Amapiano hit “Champion Sound”.
The 17-track album arrived on a promising bright March 31, 2023, via Davido Music Worldwide, Columbia Records, and Sony Music Entertainment. Shortly afterwards, it started breaking records. Timeless shattered the record of the most first-day streams ever for an African album on Apple Music on its release date, Biggest First-Day Streams On Spotify Nigeria.
Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album broke the record for the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria set by Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’.
The album garnered 4.91 million streams on its first day of release— surpassing the previous record of 1.36M by Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ (July 8, 2022). Barely one week later, the 49-minute-long record comprising 17 songs is the first African album to top the US iTunes charts, and Biggest First-Day Streams On Audiomack.
Audiomack announced via their verified Twitter page on Monday, April 3, 2023, that Davido’s ‘Timeless’ has broken the record for the biggest album first-day streams in the history of the platform. Timeless had over 12 MILLION streams in its first 24 hours on AudioMack.
While making this astonishing ground breaking records, it was evident the project was critically received and well accepted.

1. Over Dem
The beautiful Intro 😍. Here Davido proclaims his superiority over his foes, he also reminds us his paid he’s dues and now he’s a king Using the biblical David and Goliath story as context linking us back to the days of “All of You”. before going on to pay tribute to his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, the recently elected Governor of Osun State. The singer also called out snitches and frenemies towards the end of the song.
2. Feel
“I be on the phone/Calling you tonight/I wan make you show me/Make we no dey fight/I no wan sleep alone/Wanna hold you tight/Water full my eyes, but I will be alright,”
This track signifies the Davido being good at what he does. I call this the Dancers fit. Davido puts you in a happy mood getting you ready for that feel good experience into the album. Also, ‘Feel’ is a lonely lover’s invitation to reconciliation with an ex.
‘Feel’ introduces the tone of the album and sets the Pace to get ready for another partying jam ‘Unavailable’
3. Unavailable
‘Unavailable’ is a beautiful upbeat fusion of Amapiano and Afropop, and when Amapiano and Afrobeat meet, what you get is a beautiful dance-along, feel-good beat that is sure to get you onto the dancefloor.
In fact, this is the perfect song to reveal your relationship status, especially when you’re simply not Available. And that is Unavailable
4. In the Garden Ft Morravvy
‘In The Garden’ is a gorgeous mid-tempo song that finds Davido and his rebranded DMW 2.0 signee, Morravey, exchanging undying vows. A perfect love story fused into beautiful vocals from both parties.
5. Kante ft. Fave
‘Kante’ is a song about guilty pleasures.
At first Davido leaves Fave to run the show, then comes back with a takeover on a mazy good run on this track. With both artistes comforting soothing lyrics into listerners mind. This song will definitely stand the test of time. Davido also samples one of his previous songs, ‘Risky’ featuring Jamaican act, Popcaan, on the track.Kudos to Fave once again showing us what she can achieve pen power and good writing skills.
6. Away
Here Davido confirms music has always been part of him body and soul quoting” have been doing this E don tey”. He prays sorrow does not befall him or his people. Since he’s Davido, he goes ahead to ask us if we keep making, he says stay out of trouble enjoy and explore life especially on Friday Nights. This song is a Special grief and feel good song.
7. Na Money
The Cavemen, Davido and Grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo brought in their A game in convincing us Women and Money bond well. Magical vocals, coordinating and arrangement in creating a cultural masterpiece.
8. Precision:
This is just the feel good Davido of the days of Gbagbe Oshi. Probably one of the best song on the project. Here Davido says he never wants waste his time and energy, he’s working to fend for himself and his family and he needs to enjoy the fruit of his Labour since he worked for it.
9. U (JUJU) Ft Skepta
‘U’ (JUJU)’ is the result of Davido’s surprise collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper, Skepta. The song is about enduring love. And the track sees Skepta delivering as hot barz as usual. Good song
10. Picasso Ft Logos Olori
‘Picasso’, starring Logos Olori, stands out for its catchy beat and groovy rhythm. Davido sings, “Flames are burning in my soul, lady,” and “What I’m feeling lately I don’t know oh, lady,” in the song’s lyrics, which speak to feelings of passion and desire. The song’s chorus is memorable and catchy, and Logos Olori’s great vocals easily delivers the lyrics.
Overall, the album showcases Davido’s signature and perfection in blending Afrobeats with other genres like R&B, pop, and hip-hop.
The sound engineering and the percussions are on point. Timeless received generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its production and considered it to be one of Davido’s most accomplished albums yet. The album is an “ambitious yet extremely finessed record” and it is “easily one of Davido’s most mature, rounded projects”.
Timeless is astounding for its production, lyrics and Davido’s voice. Moreover, the album is considered to be “one of the most accomplished releases of Davido’s career” and it “is a testament to the singer’s growth and development as an artist”. Timeless is a “reassertion of Davido’s greatness” and that its “driving force is invincibility”. A classic project influencing and impacting generations to come.
